Meningitis

Is a medical emergency characterized by inflammation of the thin membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord: meninges. [1] The most frequent cause of such inflammation is the virus, ie when the meninges and cerebrospinal fluid reach these microorganisms through the nose or mouth. Meningitis caused by bacteria, fungi, medicinal and other diseases is uncommon but potentially lethal. They tend to block blood vessels in the brain leading to stroke and brain injury and other bodies. [2] Meningitis progresses very quickly, so early diagnosis and treatment is important to prevent severe sequelae and death. (MENINGITIS)
