Renal Insufficiency


Clinical syndrome characterized by the sudden deterioration of renal function with rapid decline of glomerular filtration, retention of nitrogenous waste and substantial changes in the hydro electrolyte balance and acid base. Acute Renal Disease (IRA) is defined as a rapid decline of renal function, occurring within hours or days. This deterioration leads to inability of the kidneys to excrete nitrogenous products derived from protein metabolism and subsequently to maintain homeostasis hydroelectrolitic and acid-base balance. Chronic Renal Disease (CRD) is present when the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) was permanently decreased as a result of a significant loss of functioning nephron mass
